Customer Service Education with a Mental Health Twist Training

The Customer Service Education with a Mental Health Twist Training offers peer support skills and resources to reduce client distress. This training is designed for professionals who provide emotional support to their clientele as part of their cultural and community roles such as:

- Hairstylists

- Barbers

- Nail Technicians

- Bartenders/Bar Servers 

- Librarians/Library Staff

- Tattoo Artists

- Doulas

- Traditional Healing Practitioners 

- School Bus Monitors


Purpose: 

  • Establish the link between mental health and customer service from the employee and client perspective

  • Understand the verbal and nonverbal actions of a client who is struggling with their mental health

  • Learn Compassionate Support Offering Techniques to reduce client distress

  • Explore local and national suicide prevention resources for client support

Capacity: The number of participants will depend on the number of employees in each establishment

Mode: Virtual or in person, no hybrid mode

Language: English or Spanish

Length: 2 hours

Cost: Free 

 

Neighbors Care Pop-Ups

The Neighbors Care Pop-Ups consists of an interactive tabling experience with a variety of suicide prevention resources and giveaways. These pop-ups are meant to reach the clientele of the professionals listed earlier. Thus, key sites include:


  • Hair Salons

  • Barbershops

  • Nail Salons

  • Bars 

  • Libraries

  • Tattoo shops

  • Bodegas 

  • Laundromats
